A little about our guides

Thoughtful choices.
Useful details.

What earns a place in a guide

We look for a useful role in the celebration: the right size of candy pack, a costume with clear included pieces, or lights that suit a particular space. Product details and customer feedback inform the benefits and limitations we describe. Numbered entries help you find a selection; they are not measured performance rankings.

For this Halloween collection, a product must have an observed average rating of at least 3.5 out of 5 and at least three written customer reviews when checked. That minimum is a starting filter, not a guarantee of quality. We also look for relevant feedback and remove listings when the displayed reviews do not clearly relate to the product.

Customer feedback in context

We synthesize useful praise and complaints into original editorial summaries. A customer’s experience is one person’s report. Listings can combine sizes, colors, and pack quantities; we note relevant variation rather than assuming every review describes the exact option selected.

Our guides use the product details available at the time of research. Confirm the current variant, included pieces, instructions, price, and delivery estimate on the retailer’s page. The research date is shown on each shopping guide.

Affiliate links

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

When you follow an Amazon shopping link and make a qualifying purchase, Holiday Knickknacks may receive a commission. Some eligible products may also carry an additional commission incentive. These arrangements do not determine the order of a guide or replace our selection criteria.

Stories and sources

Historical articles link naturally to the museums, libraries, and other sources supporting the story. Those reference links serve a different purpose from affiliate shopping links. We aim to preserve the distinctions between related holidays and between documented history and folklore.
